Hosted by Kris Truelsen and the Farm and Fun Time House Band, Farm and Fun Time is a re-imagining of the classic WCYB Radio program of the same name that aired in the 1940s and 1950s. Radio Bristol’s Farm and Fun Time broadcasts live before a studio audience and is recorded for and syndicated on PBS television stations nationally. It can be accessed on 100.1 FM in the Bristol area, or online at ListenRadioBristol.org and on Radio Bristol’s free mobile app. Viewers may also tune in to watch through Radio Bristol’s Facebook page.

Sierra Hull
In her first 25 years alone, singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist Sierra Hull hit more milestones than many musicians accomplish in a lifetime. After making her Grand Ole Opry debut at the age of 10, the Tennessee-bred virtuoso mandolinist played Carnegie Hall at age 12, then landed a deal with Rounder Records just a year later. Now 28-years-old, Hull is set to deliver her fourth full- length for Rounder: an elegantly inventive and endlessly captivating album called 25 Trips.
Revealing her profound warmth as a storyteller, 25 Trips finds Hull shedding light on the beauty and chaos and sometimes sorrow of growing up and getting older. To that end, the album’s title nods to a particularly momentous year of her life, including her marriage to fellow bluegrass musician Justin Moses and the release of her widely acclaimed album Weighted Mind—a Béla Fleck- produced effort nominated for Best Folk Album at the 2017 Grammy Awards.
“There’s a lot of push-and-pull on this record, where in some moments I feel like everything’s happening so fast and I wish I could slow it all down so I can really enjoy it,” Hull points out. “But then there are also times where I’m looking forward to the day when the craziness has died down a bit, and life’s a little calmer.”
Made with producer/engineer Shani Gandhi (Kelsea Ballerini, Dierks Bentley, Sarah Jarosz, Alison Krauss), 25 Trips continues the musical journey begun on Weighted Mind, a body of work that built off Hull’s bluegrass roots and ventured into entirely new terrain. But while its predecessor assumed a sparse and stripped-back palette, 25 Trips embodies a far more intricately arranged sound—an effect achieved with the help of peers like guitarist Mike Seal, bassist Ethan Jodziewicz, violinist Alex Hargreaves, and fiddler Christian Sedelmyer, as well as several musicians that Hull has long admired (including bassist Viktor Krauss, guitarist Bryan Sutton, and multi-instrumentalist Stuart Duncan). Along with integrating electric instrumentation and percussion into her material for the first time, Hull dreamed up the album’s eclectic textures by embracing a free-flowing process that often gave way to lightning-in-a-bottle improvisation.

Mason Via
When you think about the current popularity rising around bluegrass and its culture, for years the conversation has at length been dominated by the steel-driving break out stories of Chris Stapleton, then Billy Strings. But who is the next pioneer to represent an untapped demographic well? Many Nashville legends would suggest; Grammy-nominated artist, Mason Via.
Since Via’s original album release with Mountain Fever Records, New Horizons, he has taken the bluegrass and americana scenes by storm. He was listed by NPR as one of the top 10 bluegrass artists thriving in modern Nashville. In the past three years, he has been touring as the youngest member of Old Crow Medicine Show, guitar-picking, singing, and songwriting on their newest Grammy-nominated album, Jubilee. His songwriting can also be seen on Molly Tuttle’s recent Grammy-winning album, City of Gold, with “Down Home Dispensary,” and on Del McCoury’s grammy nominated album, Almost Proud, with “Brown Paper Bag."
Via has toured and performed in 47 of the 50 U.S. states, along with sections of Canada, Ireland, The United Kingdom, and The Netherlands. Some highlights include: Red Rocks, The Grand Ole Opry, The Ryman Auditorium, the O2 Arena in London for C2C Fest, and the Eagles Stadium opening for Luke Combs. During these travels he has shared stage time with the likes of Willie Nelson, Dierks Bentley, Sierra Ferrell, Steve Earle, Turnpike Troubadours, Keb' Mo', Margo Price, Amos Lee, Drew Holcomb, Cam, Brittany Spencer, Allison Russell, Shovels & Rope, Jerry Douglas, Gov’t Mule, Mike Gordon of PHISH, and many more. Now Mason Via is blazing a new trail, with a brand new solo record in tow, heading out with his own music and his own band to a town near you!

Kris Truelsen and the Farm and Fun Time House Band
Kris Truelsen has spent the better part of the last two decades touring across the U.S., honing his craft as a songwriter and performer. With his latest project fronting the Farm and Fun Time House Band, he leans into the rock n’ roll side of country music. It’s rowdy, loose and unmistakably Kris. The band features an all star lineup including Nick Lawrence (guitar), Rebecca Branson Jones (pedal steel), Sarah Griffin (bass), and Levi Trent (drums).
