About this Event
Farha (2021), directed by Darin J. Sallam, is a powerful historical drama that tells the story of the Nakba (1948) through the eyes of a young Palestinian girl.
Set in a rural Palestinian village, the film follows 14-year-old Farha, who dreams of continuing her education and building a future beyond traditional expectations. Her life is abruptly transformed when violence erupts during the events surrounding the creation of Israel, forcing her village into chaos.
For her safety, Farha’s father locks her inside a small storage room, where she remains trapped for days—watching and listening to the unfolding horrors of war through a tiny opening. From this confined space, she witnesses acts of violence, displacement, and loss that shatter her childhood and force her into a sudden and traumatic coming-of-age.
Based on a true story passed down through generations, Farha offers an intimate and deeply emotional portrayal of Palestinian experiences during 1948. Rather than focusing on large-scale battles, the film centers on the human cost of conflict—capturing fear, resilience, and survival from a uniquely personal perspective.
Show starts at 8:30 PM
