Help build, share, and preserve North Dakota history! ScanDay is an event hosted with libraries across the state in which staff from the North Dakota State Library bring scanning and photography equipment to a community and digitize photographs, documents, objects, etc. from the collections of residents. After scanning, the items are returned and each participant is given a flash drive containing digital copies of their items. Copies will also be displayed online on Digital Horizons, where they will be freely accessible for research and education. This event is sponsored by the Fargo Public Library and the North Dakota State Library. Please contact the Dr. James Carlson Library to reserve a time slot. Each participant may bring 10-15 items.
Uncertain what to bring? Items from personal collections (with a North Dakota connection) that are deemed important or worth sharing for future generations. Common items include old family portraits, letters, certificates, military photos, aerials of farms, street views of towns, etc. For more information on ScanDay, please visit: www.tinyurl.com/scanday
