Fantasy Novel Trivia Fundraiser for LA Fires Recovery: First Quests

Calling all fantasy novel nerds! ✨⚡️

The Accomplice Book Club is back again! This time we're hosting a trivia to raise funds for recovery efforts in the wake of Los Angeles fires. Trivia will cover the first books of several popular series, including Sorcerer's Stone, Fellowship of the Ring, the Golden Compass, and book one of the Hunger Games and Twilight. Test your knowledge of fantastical beginnings while supporting the communities impacted by LA fires. Gather your friends, brush up on your favorite first fantasy novels, and get ready for a night of friendly competition and community care.

What we believe:

1. 100% of the proceeds will go to LA fires recovery efforts: Over 200,000 Angelenos were evacuated due to recent fires that destroyed more than 10,000 homes, with many families awaiting insurance settlements or at risk of losing insurance coverage altogether. The devastation is likely to further strain affordable housing and could lead landlords to price gouge and push out renters. After the fires are gone, Los Angeles communities will need help to get back on their feet.

2. Why fantasy trivia? Because reading fiction doesn't help us escape the world, it helps us live in it. While trivia will include book 1 of the Harry Poter series, we unequivocally denounce the bigoted and transphobic views of J.K. Rowling.

3. About our community: We are a book club that meets weekly to contemplate life's big questions through ritualized reading of fantasy novels. We're also committed to using our collective power to fight for social justice. Now more than ever, we believe community is the antidote to fascism. 💓❤🤍💚

In regards to the event itself:

1. We will have a separate server for the event; no need to order at the bar!

2. You can come with a team of up to 5 people, but feel free to fly solo if that's your jam.

3. When signing up, you do not need to register as a team; rather each person will sign up and donate individually. On the day of the event, just find a table and sit together.

4. We will provide paper and writing utensils to record your answers.

5. As we ran out of anti-cheating quills and parchment at our last event, we're asking for the honors system here! Looking forward to seeing you all!
