About this Event
Established curricula are excellent at conveying basic concepts, but this approach dilutes the diversity and complexity of the natural world. By embracing elements shared in this free workshop, teachers can encourage students to develop higher level thinking skills. We'll use native plants and their pollinator partners to explore plant adaptations, develop entomological literacy and explore the process of pollination in depth. Classroom time will be mixed with hands-on activities to ensure you are comfortable taking your lessons outside. Please register before June 4.
Participants will receive:
- A native plant starter kit
- Books for teacher support and classroom use
- A detailed collected bibliography of online materials
Fee: Free – registration required; Fee and supplies provided by the Fanning Endowment.
Time: 9:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Location: S.C. Botancial Garden; Conference Center, upper level
