FAMILY WELLCONNECT 2026: THE COMMONWEALTH OF CARE

A FREE Family Wellness Experience on Spectacle Island

Join us for a day of rest, connection, healing, and joyful community-building on beautiful Spectacle Island in Boston Harbor.

Now entering its third year, Family WellConnect is a community-centered wellness experience designed to support families through nature, holistic wellbeing, intergenerational connection, and collective care.

This year's theme, The Commonwealth of Care, invites us to imagine what becomes possible when rest, healing, belonging, and wellness are treated as shared community resources rather than individual luxuries.

Together, we will transform Spectacle Island into a temporary Wellness Commons—a place where families can gather, reconnect with nature, nurture meaningful relationships, and experience the restorative power of community.

Whether you come to play, learn, heal, reflect, explore, or simply enjoy a beautiful day outdoors with loved ones, there is a place for you here.

WHY THE COMMONWEALTH OF CARE?

We believe that wellness is not something we achieve alone.

Families thrive when communities invest in connection, restoration, belonging, and support.

The Commonwealth of Care honors the wisdom that healing happens in relationship—with ourselves, with one another, and with the natural world.

Through shared experiences, community resources, wellness practices, storytelling, and joyful gathering, we are creating a space where families can experience the radical act of rest together.

FEATURED EXPERIENCES

Throughout the day, families will have opportunities to explore a variety of experiences designed to support emotional wellbeing, creativity, connection, and restoration.

Featured experiences may include:

• The Elder's Porch
A space to honor wisdom, storytelling, intergenerational connection, and community memory.

• The Apothecary of the People
Community-centered wellness resources inspired by traditional healing knowledge and holistic wellbeing practices.

• Small Steps Healing Clinic
Accessible healing experiences including sound healing, Reiki, acupuncture, ear seeds, meditation, and restorative wellness offerings.

• Family Play & Exploration
Nature-based activities, movement, creative play, and opportunities for joyful connection.

• Storytelling & Reflection Spaces
Invitations to pause, journal, listen, and reconnect with yourself and others.

• Community Building Experiences
Opportunities to meet new people, strengthen relationships, and cultivate a deeper sense of belonging.

• Rest Stations
Dedicated spaces designed to support physical, emotional, sensory, spiritual, and creative rest.

We celebrate diversity and welcome participants from all backgrounds.

While this year's programming intentionally centers the experiences and wellbeing of Global Majority families, all families who support the spirit of community, inclusion, and collective care are welcome.

What to Bring:

• A light jacket or windbreaker for the ferry ride – it can get breezy on the water!
• Sunscreen
• Portable chair or yoga mat for comfort during activities and relaxation (some mats will be provided)
• A blanket to spread out and enjoy the island scenery. (some blankets will be provided)
• Bug spray to keep those pesky critters away.
• Reusable water bottle/Drinking Water to stay hydrated throughout the day.
• Comfortable shoes and extra clothing for the beach, exploring and participating in meditiative hike activities.

Registration:
Advance registration is required.

Additional information regarding ferry transportation, accessibility, event logistics, and day-of details will be provided to registered participants.

ABOUT FAMILY WELLCONNECT

Family WellConnect was founded by Lawanda Monique Turner of Pharaoh Essentials Wellness to create accessible wellness experiences where families can connect, heal, learn, play, and thrive together.

What began as a vision between a mother and her daughter has grown into a community-centered wellness initiative serving families throughout Greater Boston.

Together, we are building a future where wellness, nature, and community belong to everyone.

TRANSPORTATION:
Families should meet on the north side of the Boston Long Wharf Marriott. The ferry will depart from Long Wharf North (Gate 5) The nearest public transit stop to Long Wharf is the Aquarium T Stop (MBTA Blue Line). Alternatively, Haymarket and State are about 0.5 miles away.

We encourage taking public transportion or even car pooling when possible to the Long Wharf North but if driving here is information on parking in the area:
