In conjunction with her exhibit, Líneas de Luz y Sombra (Lines of Light and Shadow) at Edith Farnsworth House, Cristina Kahlo will be speaking at La Quinta De Los Reyes. For four generations, photography has been an important part of the Kahlo family. Frida’s father Guillermo specialized in architectural photography, and the camera was often integral to the ways Frida created art or cultivated her image as an artist.Frida’s nephew, Antonio Kahlo, was an amateur photographer who maintained a darkroom and introduced his daughter, Cristina Kahlo, to the art form. Cristina Kahlo, a grand-niece of Frida Kahlo, is now a professional photographer and curator, will speak on this legacy and how it has shaped her own artistic practice. NOTE: this event will be held at La Quinta de los Reyes at 36 East New York Street, Aurora, IL 60505.
