Most of us carry family stories in our heads — a memorable ancestor, a meaningful trip, a moment when our family intersected with history. But turning those stories into something written can feel overwhelming.
It doesn’t have to be.
This free, six-week writing workshop is designed to help you write one meaningful story — not your entire genealogical history. Whether it’s a short vignette or a few pages, this class is about making progress, not perfection.
You do not need to be a writer.
You do not need to have all your research finished.
You just need a story you’d like to explore.
What This Workshop Is (and Isn’t)
This workshop is a supportive, hands-on space to:
Write a focused family story, event, or personal connection to history
Get gentle guidance and encouragement as you write
Receive help finding small pieces of historical context if needed
It is not a requirement to produce a polished book or complete family history. The goal is to help you start — and enjoy the process — alongside others doing the same.

Why Join?
In connection with the America 250 Celebration, Sno-Isle Genealogical Society invites you to preserve and share the stories that matter most. Brenda and Phylis will open the SIGS Library at Humble House during each session, giving you access to books and resources that may help add context to your writing.
Bring a notebook and pen — and your curiosity. We’ll tackle this project together, one story at a time.
