"SEEDS: Kids Dig It! A Family Fun Day at the SEEDS Compost Petting Zoo "
Come learn about the different DIY composting systems at the SEEDS Compost Zoo, where we have eight different composting set-ups on display. You can meet and pet our red wiggler worms and other micro-organism friends! This is a family-friendly event–all ages are welcome!
There will be a variety of kid-friendly activities including but not limited to: A reading by Brianne Farley, author/illustrator of Worm Makes a Sandwich, Hands-on Compost Microbe Bingo, the Traverse Area District Library will have a kid's activity, and Blush Face Painting will be there for free face painting. Other fun activities like compost cornhole, decomposition tag, and more!
The SEEDS Farm is located at Historic Barns Park. You can find it down the hill from the Cathedral Barn, directly across from the solar panels on the bike trail.
Please wear closed-toe shoes and prepare to dress for the elements.
The Great Michigan Compost Tour (GMCT) is a series of tours across Michigan, taking place during the week of September 15th. Each tour creates an opportunity for community members to visit local composting sites and learn more about sustainable yard and food waste management.
