The 2nd Annual Family Fun at New River Park event is being planned for Saturday, August 23, from 11 am – 2 pm. Hosted by the City of Beckley Parks and Recreation along with Just for Kids and the Raleigh County United for Prevention, the event will be held at Shelter #2 and around the park. Enjoy a variety of activities such as visiting booths, a bounce house, bubbles, and games.
Bring your bike, scooter, or battery-operated car, and stop by the decorating station. Then, join the parade around the circle at the park at 1 pm. Beckley Fire Department plans to bring a fire truck and Beckley Police Department will be there. Food, drinks, and music are also being planned. This year’s theme is “Hats Off to You” so some of the activities may include hats.
A few organizations will have booths offering a game, activity, or giveaways. All activities will be free to enjoy.
Following the fun at New River Park, head over to Linda K. Epling Stadium to watch a baseball game between the Beckley Police Department and Beckley Fire Department which begins at 3 pm. There will be games and prizes between innings. Admission is $5 for adults, and children are free to attend the game. Proceeds will benefit Just for Kids and the WVU Children’s Hospital.
