Family Friendly 'Rockpool Safari' - Scarborough

About this Event

Ahead of the Sealife Centre's public Conservation Evening - We are heading out to explore the rock pools!

Suitable for the whole family, you will delve into the world of coastal biodiversity and conservation action with REConnect, discovering the amazing species that shelter within our tidal shores.

Please note that access to the rockpools is via steps and this rocky shore terrain is not suitable for wheelchairs, buggies/prams, or those that require the use of mobility aids.

Delivered by Yorkshire Marine Nature Partnership, Yorkshire Wildlife Trust and Scarborough Sealife Centre, you will get hands on by helping us search and photograph everything we can find along the rocky shore at Scalby Ness at Scarborough North Bay.

The activities will be fully supported and we will be learning together as we go, so it is an ideal first step for beginners, those wanting to explore coastal wildlife, and anyone wanting to support conservation action along the coast - you will also find out about other opportunities for you to get involved in too!

All equipment and resources are provided - but please wear walking boots or wellies (and bring a camera if you want to) for exporing the rockpools!

Meet at Scarborough Sealife for a short intro and safety brief

Walk down to the beach, find our survey area and recap of the task

Working together we will identify as many different creatures we can find

Gather up all our equipment and walk back up to the Sealife Centre
