Family Forest Wonder: All Ages
About this Event
This BC Day long weekend, bring your family to the forest for a playful, engaging session that honors what children already know: that the woods are full of magic, that curiosity is a superpower, that wonder doesn't need to be earned or explained.
This is not a typical kids' class. We're not lecturing about nature or checking boxes on a scavenger hunt. Instead, we're creating space for genuine exploration—where children can touch bark, ask "why" as many times as they want, notice the small things (lichen, insects, moss patterns), and discover what the forest teaches when we stop rushing. Parents and children will practice three kinds of connection together: inward (noticing what your senses are receiving right now), outward (exploring the forest as a place full of mystery and aliveness), circular (being present with each other, without screens or schedules).
What to expect:
- Invitations to explore the senses
- Slow walking with extended pauses
- Stories & Sharing
- Tea & Snacks
Note: This event is made possible in collaboration with the City of Maple Ridge Outdoors Programming.

Acknowledgements
We acknowledge that we gather on the traditional territories of the Katzie Nation, who have called this land home for generations. The forest we walk in, the water we drink, the air we breathe—all are part of Katzie stewardship and care.
