Join us this half-term for a mind-blowing journey through the cosmos with Tom Kerss F.R.A.S. at Spaceship Earth! For children age 6+
About this Event

Join astronomer Tom Kerss for a fun, fact-filled, interactive talk about our incredible home planet Earth. Discover what makes it so special, and how astronomers may be close to finding other worlds like it elsewhere in the Milky Way.

Could there be alien life in our Solar System or beyond? Are we the aliens? Find out how Spaceship Earth makes life possible, protects us from dangers in space, and gives us the opportunity to study the stars and unlock their secrets!

This event is for children 6+ and will be held under artist Luke Jerram's stunning Gaia installation.

This event will be 60 minutes long and there will be no traditional seating so attendees can sit under and walk around Gaia.

All children must be accompanied by an adult 18+ with a maximum of four children per adult.

Tom Kerss is an astronomer, author and consultant who specialises in the rewarding task of connecting people to their shared universe. He has written numerous best-selling books about the night sky for both adults and children, including Children's Picture Atlas of the Stars, Diamonds Everywhere, Northern Lights: The Definitive Guide to Auroras. He has formerly worked at the Royal Observatory in London, and is Hurtigruten's Chief Aurora Chaser in Norway, travelling to the cold climes of the Arctic in winter to hunt down nature's most spellbinding skybound phenomenon. A resolute stargazer and experienced communicator, Tom now shares his passion for the stars with people all over the world, and is often featured in major media offering insights about the latest developments in space. He loves nothing more than to seek out the darkest and most beautiful skies on Earth. Tom's latest book, Unknown Universe, presents the astonishing images and findings from the first years of the James Webb Space Telescope mission.
