CASTING NOTICE
The Wayward Artist is seeking a diverse, dynamic cast of strong actor-singers for Falsettos, a contemporary musical that blends humor, heartbreak, and humanity in a deeply intimate ensemble piece.
Set in the late 1970s and early 1980s, Falsettos follows Marvin, his ex-wife Trina, his lover Whizzer, their son Jason, and an eclectic circle of family and friends as they navigate love, identity, and community during a time of profound cultural change.
We are committed to inclusive casting and strongly encourage performers of all backgrounds, identities, and experiences to audition.

COMPENSATION
All actors are paid (stipend details provided upon casting).
CHARACTER BREAKDOWN
MARVIN (30s–40s)
Tenor (G#2–Bb4)
Intelligent, neurotic, and often self-centered. Recently left his wife and son to be with Whizzer. Struggles to reconcile love, responsibility, and identity. Must balance sharp humor with emotional depth.
WHIZZER (20s–30s)
Tenor (Bb2–Ab4)
Handsome, athletic, and charming. Initially resistant to commitment, he grows into a deeply loving partner. Requires strong physical presence and emotional vulnerability.
TRINA (30s–40s)
Mezzo-Belt (F#3–E5)
Marvin’s ex-wife. Anxious, witty, and resilient. Navigates heartbreak, motherhood, and eventual new love. Strong comedic timing and emotional range required.
MENDEL (30s–50s)
Baritone (G#2–F4)
Marvin’s psychiatrist (and later Trina’s husband). Warm, awkward, and endearing. Brings humor and heart to the ensemble.
JASON (pre-teen, plays 10–13)
Treble (G3–D5)
Marvin and Trina’s son. Intelligent, observant, and trying to make sense of a complicated family. Must be a strong singer with emotional maturity.
DR. CHARLOTTE (30s–50s)
Alto/Mezzo (F3–F5)
A no-nonsense physician with dry wit and deep compassion. Part of the “lesbians from next door.” Strong comedic and vocal presence.
CORDÉLIA (20s–40s)
Mezzo (A3–F5)
Catering professional and Charlotte’s partner. Warm, quirky, and optimistic. Brings lightness and charm.
