Fall Prescription Drug Takeback Event
The Verona Police Department, in partnership with the Wisconsin Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), invites community members to participate in our upcoming Prescription Drug Take Back Event.
This program provides a safe, convenient, and environmentally responsible way to dispose of unused, unwanted, or expired medications. By disposing of medications properly, you can help prevent accidental misuse, reduce the risk of prescription drug abuse, and protect our environment.

Many people are unaware that flushing medications down the toilet or pouring them down the drain can have long-term environmental consequences. Water treatment systems are not designed to remove all pharmaceutical compounds, allowing trace amounts of medications to enter rivers, lakes, and other waterways.
Proper disposal helps:
• Protect local waterways and the environment
• Prevent accidental poisonings
• Reduce access to unused medications that could be misused
• Keep prescription drugs out of the hands of children and others who may be at risk
