Join the Corcoran School of the Arts & Design for an opening reception celebrating three exhibitions that bring together the creative and scholarly work of Corcoran faculty, staff, and students. Faculty and staff performances will punctuate the evening.

Explore A Gift in Motion, a multidisciplinary showcase featuring the creative, academic, and applied research of faculty and staff from across the Corcoran. The exhibition considers collectivity, reciprocity, abundance, and the ways creative communities learn from and support one another.

Cracks & Reforms: The 1920s Through the GW Collection examines a decade shaped by political upheaval, social transformation, migration, modernization, and cultural redefinition. This exhibition, developed as part of an art history class taught by Associate Professor Bibi Obler, is accompanied by a catalog designed by graphic design students.

Unfossilizing African Art recontextualizes African material culture objects that have been held in the GW Collection for nearly 50 years. Led by Assistant Professor Clement Akpang, 59 students across four seminar courses conducted original research to deepen understanding of the collection and reconsider how these objects are interpreted and exhibited.
