Fall Mahjong Social League

Our next Social League has landed! This 5 week American mahjong league will start on Monday, Sept 21 and meet every Monday for five weeks at The Cottage in Wheaton, 7-9pm. Scores for winning hands will be recorded with great mahjong prizes for our weekly winners, and a grand prize of a new Oh My Mahjong tile set and coordinating holiday mat at the conclusion of league play for our overall top scorer!

Note that this event is for players who have already taken Beginner Mahjong 101 & Mahjong 102 and solidly know all the rules for American mahjong.

Agenda

6:45 - 7:00pm • Player arrival, order your drink, find your seat

7:00 - 9:00pm • Play for points. Winners get up and move to a new table for social play

9:00pm - 9:30pm • Points tallied and weekly prizes awarded

Players: Please finish up your final game around 9pm

About Lisa, Blue Tiger Mahj Club Founder & Instructor :

I first entered the world of mahjong while living as an expat in Singapore some 15 years ago. What began as a social outlet quickly became a meaningful cultural experience. Immersed in a community deeply influenced by Chinese culture, I discovered that mahjong was far more than a pastime—it was a bridge to connection, history, and belonging.
After returning to the US, I learned American mahjong with my mom and soon began teaching family and friends. As the game grew in popularity, I combined my passion for mahjong with my love for teaching, formally launching my business in 2024 to grow the mahjong community in the western Chicago suburbs. I have since taught 3,500+ players in our area!
As a graduate of Michigan State University with a degree in teaching, I draw on my background as a teacher to make mahjong approachable and engaging. I carefully break down complex concepts into simple, step-by-step lessons that help students gain confidence and understanding. I believe anyone can learn and love this game! My mission is to bring people together through mahjong - building friendships and lifelong connections one tile at a time! 🩷🀄️
