Join us for The Great Dictator, Charlie Chaplin’s first full sound film and a landmark political satire. Chaplin plays both a Jewish barber with memory loss and the oppressive dictator of Tomainia. Through mistaken identities, comedic misdirection, and a rivalry between dictators, the story culminates in a stirring finale: the barber—mistaken for the dictator—delivers an impassioned plea for democracy, tolerance, and human dignity. Chaplin’s daring satire and heartfelt message remain profoundly relevant today.
Presented as part of our Fall into Film series, sponsored by Jackson College. Doors open at 7; film starts at 7:15.
