Forests in the city? Absolutely. Virginia Beach has been a Tree City USA since 1980, and its urban forest plays a vital role in the city’s infrastructure—just like clean water.
Join us for the 49th Annual Fall Forestry & Wildlife Field Tour and explore how science-based land management is shaping Virginia’s natural spaces, even in urban environments.
What to Expect:
- Learn how thinning protects pine plantations from pests
- See how landowners turn trees into meaningful family pieces
- Explore silvopasture—where livestock and trees share space
- Discuss rural-urban interface challenges
- Visit an urban arboretum and learn which trees thrive in city settings

This tour is designed for private landowners, natural resource professionals, K–12 educators, urban planners, students, and anyone interested in sustainable land and wildlife management.
