About this Event
The term “Forest Bathing” comes from the Japanese phrase shinrin-yoku, which can be translated as “taking in the forest atmosphere” or, more simply, “forest bathing.” It is about awareness (not getting in water in a forest -though that is fun too!).
We’ll travel slowly along forested trails, pausing for a series of simple awareness exercises that will guide us in using all our senses to consciously connect with the fall forest environment at Glade Run. Forest bathing has been proven to have physical and mental health benefits both during and after the activity - decreased stress, anxiety and depression, increased focus, attention and sense of calm; decreased blood pressure and stress hormones, improved immune activity and sense of wellness. You’ll come away from this experience with a greater sense of connection to nature and a sense of calm groundedness to carry with you.
This activity is ideal for adults, teens, and older kids who are able to follow along with a quiet meditative activity, and comfortably walk about a half a mile with several stops along the way.
A minimum of 7 registrations by October 11 is required in order for this event to be held.
Late registrations (within one week of the event) can be made as long as the event has met the minimum number of participants.
