About this Event
Hosted by Brown People Foundation!
The #BPFForagers and #ForageFam are back for September!!! Come join us as we stroll/discover/honor/share amongst the plants & trees. Learn how to spot native & invasive plants - and about their uses!
Catch us in Chinatown - at the historical Ping Tom Park for a plant identification walk, guided by Jah of BPF. Following the plant walk, we will use what we learn to create something healing 💚🌿
We will gather at the entrance to the park, near the railroad tracks.
Paid Parking is available in the lot next to the red line station, there is also street parking in the area.
Public Transit: Cermak-Chinatown stop
😷☝🏾Yes #WeOutside but please be mindful of yourself and others. Masking & respecting personal space/bubble encouraged.
🖤 Wear comfy shoes and bring water & a snack!
🖤 A journal, closed-toed shoes, and sunscreen are great to have on hand.
🖤🌈 BIPOC (Black & Indigenous People of Color) to the front! TGNC (Trans & Gender Non-Conforming) folks to the front! Earth stewardship is our birthright and Ancestral responsibility. These walks are curated with that in mind, and to facilitate organic (pun intended) community. Non-Black & cis het attendees will not be turned away, however we implore you to consider the empirical need of safe spaces for Black & Indigenous folks, the space you are taking up, and if it is warranted.
