Trail Information
Parsons Branch Road is a scenic, one-way gravel route that winds through the Great Smoky Mountains and offers incredible opportunities to enjoy the fall foliage.
The road is maintained by the National Park Service, but you may encounter the occasional downed tree following heavy storms. This is generally not an issue for most vehicles.
Expect:
* Full gravel road
* Several shallow water crossings (all less than 1 foot deep)
* A few steep inclines
* Water ruts in some sections
* Beautiful mountain scenery and fall colors throughout the drive
Vehicle Requirements:
* Stock-friendly
* High clearance is helpful but not required
* 4WD is not required for this route
What to Bring
* Full tank of fuel
* Water and snacks
* Camera for the incredible fall scenery
* Weather-appropriate clothing
* Respect for fellow travelers and the park
Please bring a GMRS radio. Cell phones do not work there.
This is a relaxed scenic ride designed to enjoy the beauty of the Smokies during peak fall color season. We’ll take our time, stop for photos where appropriate, and enjoy one of the park’s most iconic backroads together.
