About this Event
Take part in our bird survey and help track the health of our feathered friends in the ecosystem!
Join Still Moon for a morning bird survey through Renfrew Ravine. This event is geared towards birders with some experience, as this is an opportunity to contribute to long-term data collection and monitoring. Come see the last of fall migration, help us count resident species, and meet other passionate birders!
This survey consists of 12 point counts along Still Creek through both Renfrew Ravine Park and Renfrew Community Park. We will start at the south end of Renfrew Ravine Park and move north. This survey route was developed and carried out monthly in 2006 by J.M. Ryder, Still Moon is excited to continue these surveys once a season to better understand how the diversity of birds has changed within the ravine over the last 18 years. We saw over 18 species during our summer survey!
The complete route takes about 3 hours, and is about a 1.3km walk. Wear comfortable walking shoes, and please bring a raincoat and lots of water.
This event is led by Still Moon’s Stewardship Program Manager, Connelly Stirling, who is keen on community stewardship and loves to share knowledge about birds, bugs, and plants!
