Fall 2026 Proficiency-Based Education Summit
Join School Services of Montana and educators from the MECC curriculum consortium on Friday, September 25, 2026, at The Emerson & Willson Building in Bozeman for a day of learning, collaboration, and connection focused on the future of Proficiency-Based Education (PBE) in Montana.
This year’s Summit centers on student agency, helping learners take greater ownership of what they know, how they learn, and where they are going. Educators and leaders will explore practical strategies for building competency-based systems, meaningful assessment practices, proficiency scales, personalized pathways, and learning experiences that connect to students’ goals and futures.
The day will feature an opening welcome from Matthew Jensen, Superintendent of Kalispell School District, keynote sessions with Lauren McCauley and Robin Kanaan of KnowledgeWorks, and a range of breakout sessions led by Montana educators and PBE experts, including Kalispell Public Schools, Learner-Centered Collaborative, Reach Higher Montana, Jeannie Chipps, and School Services of Montana.
Whether your school is just beginning its PBE journey or looking for ways to deepen existing practices, you’ll leave with practical ideas, new resources, and connections with colleagues who are working toward more meaningful, learner-centered education.
