Join the Butte College Music Department for Convergence, an evening celebrating the union of voices and guitar. This collaborative concert brings together the Butte College Choir, directed by Luke Nicolay and accompanied by Erika Ray, and the Butte College Guitar Ensemble, directed by Dave Elke, in a program that brings together two ensembles for an evening of diverse and engaging music. The Butte College Choir presents Voices of the Realms: Songs of Fantasy and Imagination—a journey through music inspired by video games, films, and mythic storytelling. The program features Baba Yetu from Civilization IV, May It Be from The Lord of the Rings, Eric Whitacre’s Fly to Paradise, Adiemus, and more—works that transport listeners into cinematic and otherworldly soundscapes.
Making its debut performance, the Butte College Guitar Ensemble showcases the expressive beauty and rhythmic energy of the guitar through a diverse set that highlights both classical and contemporary styles. This inaugural appearance marks an exciting new chapter in the growth of the Butte College Music Department and its expanding opportunities for student musicians across disciplines.
