Faith250 -- America the Beautiful

Imagine a room full of people from many faiths, sitting together around tables and enjoying conversations, food and fellowship. Conversations that matter, about the meaning and blessing of our country’s founding on our 250th anniversary. We can create this together: a once-in-a-generation opportunity for neighbors to meet neighbors, a chance to regain unity as we consider some of America’s most inspiring words.
That’s what Faith250 is about, and we -- almost two dozen faith communities in the greater Scranton Area: Hindu, Buddhist, Muslim, Jewish, Bahai and diverse Christian traditions all coming together -- invite you to join us as we gather four times, each time gathering in small groups to discuss a document with a vision for America: We start with the lyrics to America the Beautiful, July 13 at 7 pm at Temple Hesed, 1 Knox Rd, Scranton. That will e followed by the Declaration of Independence, Emma Lazarus’ poem “The New Colossus,” and Frederick Douglass’ “What to a slave is the 4th of July.” Each gathering will take place in a different house of worship. People of all faiths and none are invited. What a great way to celebrate the 250th!
