FAITH & FREEDOM: A JUNETEENTH GOSPEL CELEBRATION
About this Event
This free community-wide Juneteenth Gospel celebration will honor the enduring role of faith, the Black Church and the sounds from Mississippi that helped shape America's story and celebrate fathers! Expect a festive atmosphere with food trucks, vendors and activities.
Attire: Summer Chic. Dress cool. Linen, sundresses, and comfortable outdoor attire encouraged.
Lawn chairs welcomed! No outside food or drink. Parking-$10. Gates open at 4:00 p.m.
This year's inaugural event will also honor David R. Curry, Jr., in recognition of his extraordinary contributions to Mississippi's musical heritage and his role in helping create one of the most influential gospel sounds to emerge from our state through the Mississippi Mass Choir.
This special gathering will bring together churches, choirs, musicians, families, and community leaders for an evening of worship, inspiration, remembrance, and celebration. John Christopher Adams - Opera Mississippi will render "Lift Every Voice & Sing."
Faith & Freedom will also feature musical tributes celebrating Mississippi's legendary gospel quartet tradition, including the music and impact of The Williams Brothers, The Canton Spirituals, and The Jackson Southernaires. These tributes will honor the artists whose voices, songs, and ministries helped define the sound of gospel music and continue to inspire audiences around the world.

Info: Gates open at 4:00 p.m. Parking is $10 inside the gates. Utilize the Park's parking spaces, the Mississippi Museum of Natural Science and the Mississippi Children's Museums parking lots. Please respect ADA access. Children can play on the playground, attendees can engage with photo opportunities, vendors and food trucks.

Through timeless classics and beloved favorites, this tribute celebrates the Mississippi artists whose voices helped define gospel music and whose influence continues to inspire audiences around the world.
