Fairview & Mt. Pleasant Walking Tour: 16th Avenue, Yesterday & Tomorrow

Vancouver's tomorrow is shaped by its past, and 16th Avenue is a powerful demonstration of the persistence of history. From the amalgamation of Vancouver in 1929 to the Broadway Plan, this street has been a boundary line separating housing and small business opportunities.

We'll explore the history and potential of this vital part of the city. Let's talk about what this area teaches us about the roots of our housing crisis...and what we can do about it!

We'll start at 16th and Heather, meeting outside of the Velo Star Cafe. From there we'll walk about 3 km in total, ending at 16th and Main (crossing 16th Ave several times along the way).

There will be a post-walk social at a nearby pub for those who want to carry on the conversation.
