Welcome to our Fairisle/ Stranded knitting/ Colourwork knitting Workshop - whichever you'd like to call it. This is a full day session (10am - 4pm with a 45 minute break for lunch).
We will begin making a small pouch (suitable for a small gift, a pair of handknitted socks, a lavender pouch). I'll talk you through the history of Fairisle and how it differs from other types of colourwork knitting such as Jacquard.
You should already be confident with knitting and know how to cast on, knit (preferably in the round) and cast off. I would say that this workshop is for an advanced beginner/ intermediate knitter.
A selection of yarn will be provided on the day so you can choose which colours you'd like to use - a mixture of wools and wool blends which tend to work best for colourwork. If you are a vegan or sensitive to wools please let us know and we'll discuss in advance your best options.
There's also added an option to purchase discounted needles for the lesson. You'll need 20cm, 2.5mm circular needles (or dpns if you'd prefer) so if you've got these, great and if you haven't just click that option. There will be a pattern and informational leaflet to take home on the day. We also provide teas, coffees and snacks. If you've got any dietary requirements - like non-cows milk - please let us know beforehand so we can prepare for you.
Please let us know if you have any questions!
