Fae Folk Art Festival is on Saturday, September 6th at Union Square Park in Downtown Springfield! Costumed actors will be interacting with patrons throughout the day. Craft activities at the SAA Make-truck, face painting by Glitterfaces, and food trucks by Mangiami Bōru and Leo's Pizza On Wheels will also be available for the duration of the Fae Fest.
The Art Market opens at 11, and our first major activity is a Poetry Open Mic at Noon. 5 minute time-slots are still available - poets, authors, word-weavers, and spell-singers, please email [email protected] to secure your place!
At 1pm the Fae Team will be hosting the Fae Braiding Competition, an interactive game meant to get folks into the Fae spirit!
On the hours of 2, 3, & 4 guests can make their way to Garvey Tubman Tent to attend Lore Stories, a series of folk-tales originating from South Africa, West Africa, and Guana, as told by Shatriya Smith.
At 2:30 and 3:30, follow the sound of music to our main stage for the Maverick Moon Dance Troupe. At 2:30 they will be performing, and at 3:30 they will be instructing guests in the ancient and arcane art of dance!
4:30 marks the start of our costume contest registration - come to the Fae Folk Collective's Booth to sign-up. This year there shall be two categories: Adult, for those 16 years and older, and Youth, for those under 16 years.
Since the Fae Folk Collective values artistry and craftsmanship, all costume contest entries must have at least one hand-made, altered, or carefully coordinated component.
The Costume Contest shall then be held at 5:00!
See you soon!
