“A Year in Sound and Color: Live music, electronics, and original artwork” brings together music, visual art, and technology in an immersive concert experience by electronic composer Keith White.
The program features original compositions inspired by different seasons and moments throughout the year, performed live by Tess Remy-Schumacher on cello and Scott Erickson on oboe alongside pre-recorded electronic music. Each work is paired with an original painting by White, displayed on stage during the performance, creating a dialogue between sound and image. Titles such as “4th of July,” “Fall Equinox,” “Snowstorm,” and “Winter Solstice” reflect the changing rhythms, moods, and textures of the year.
Described by the composer as “Art and Music and Electronics, oh my!” the concert invites audiences into a multisensory experience where live performers, electronic soundscapes, and visual artwork together to shape a shared sense of time, place, and atmosphere.
Part of the Faculty Artist Concert Series, the proceeds from this performance benefit music student scholarships.
Hideaway Pizza and full bar service are available inside the UCO Jazz Lab during this performance.
