As a descendant of immigrant millworkers Diane is honored to tell their story through songs that capture both despair and hope for a better life. The program explores the revolutionary changes the invention of the power loom brought to the lives of many people especially the women who flocked to mills in places like Waltham and Lowell for new opportunities better pay and independence.
