Extraordinary Experience: An Introduction to MCPS
About this Event
Some human experiences do not fit comfortably within conventional academic, clinical, religious, or cultural frameworks.
They may involve synchronicity, mystical or religious experience, near-death experience, psi phenomena, mediumship, unusual states of consciousness, or simply the persistent sense that reality may be stranger—and more meaningful—than we have been taught to assume.
The Midwestern Center for Parapsychological Studies was created to offer these questions a serious home.
Please join us for the first public gathering of MCPS: an informal introduction, guided community conversation, and opportunity to meet others interested in consciousness and extraordinary human experience.
Together, we will explore:
• What parapsychology actually studies—and what it does not
• Why unusual experiences can be difficult to discuss openly
• How we can remain open without becoming credulous
• How we can remain discerning without becoming dismissive
• What kinds of conversations, studies, and gatherings our local community needs
No particular belief or prior knowledge is required. You are welcome whether you approach these subjects as an experiencer, skeptic, researcher, clinician, spiritual seeker, or curious human being.
We will also introduce the first planned selection for the forthcoming MCPS book club and share information for those interested in participating. The book does not need to be purchased or read before this event.
This gathering is intended to be thoughtful, welcoming, and grounded. Participants will never be pressured to disclose personal experiences or adopt any particular interpretation of anomalous phenomena.
Come curious. Leave with better questions.
Hosted by Dr. Sica Leigh, DACM, Dipl. OM (NCCAOM), Director of the Midwestern Center for Parapsychological Studies.
