Close it in. Weather it tight.
A building starts to become a home when it is closed in and protected from the elements. In this intensive, students will learn how to install exterior siding and properly fit windows and doors, with a focus on weather protection, function, and finish. This workshop covers key exterior details that affect durability, efficiency, and appearance, while building confidence with practical carpentry skills that apply far beyond tiny house construction.
A strong workshop for students who want to better understand exterior building systems and gain useful experience applicable to sheds, cabins, additions, and full-size homes.
Prerequisite: Intro to Carpentry, Carpentry II, Woodworking for Women, or equivalent carpentry experience. Students must be comfortable using power tools and working at a strong pace.
July 18 & 19, 10 – 5pm, 149 Hurricane Road, Keene
Dress for the job. Sturdy shoes are required (no Crocs, flip-flops, or sandals), along with practical work clothes such as jeans or other durable layers. Long hair must be tied back, and dangling jewelry and hoodie ties are not permitted. These workshops take place outdoors, so come prepared to work in the weather and dress in layers.
