Free and open to the public, this event will take place in Bost Memorial Hall on the campus of Corinth Reformed Church.
10% of Americans report being estranged from a parent or a child. Common reasons include childhood abuse or neglect, chronic conflict, boundary violations, major value differences, and family disputes involving divorce, partners, inheritance, or politics.
In her talk, Extending Hope to Parents of Prodigal Children, offers encouragement for parents who are grieving the choices of their adult children. She reminds parents that, while they cannot control the choices of their adult children, they can choose to respond with Christlike love, faithful prayer, and compassionate listening.
Many parents of prodigal children carry deep feelings of guilt, shame, disappointment, and fear. They often wonder where they went wrong or how they can bring their children back to faith and healthy living. While acknowledging this pain, Mary encourages parents to release the burden of trying to fix or rescue their adult children and instead trust them to God’s care. Mary’s message is one of hope: parents can love deeply, pray faithfully, listen well, and experience God’s peace while trusting Him with the journey of their adult children.
