National award-winning pastelist Bryan Jernigan will demonstrate the creation of an expressive pastel landscape. During the session, he will share professional tips and tricks for working with soft pastels, focusing on how to use bold color and decisive strokes to connect the reality of a scene with the feelings it evokes. Attendees will learn about his process of building organic networks of line and shape to keep work fresh and engaging.
About the Artist:
Bryan Jernigan is an Arlington-based artist and instructor known for his work in
both soft pastels and acrylics. He has taught workshops across the United
States and internationally, including immersive painting experiences in France,
Scotland, and Mexico, and will be taking a small group to Morocco in 2027.
Bryan’s work is held in private and corporate collections globally, and he has
been featured in shows most recently at Linksbridge Vineyards and the
Parkview Gallery at Glen Echo Park in Maryland, and at the D.C. Art Center in
Washington, D.C. He teaches locally for organizations including the Art League of Alexandria and the Yellow Barn Studio at Glen Echo Park and has taught outside the area in
New York, Connecticut, Louisiana and Quebec, Canada.
