Expressive and Mindful Sketching Workshop at the V&A

Would you like to add more expression, confidence and life your sketching?

This is a sketching workshop designed to encourage expression using a variety of illustrative techniques. Focusing on drawing an array of objects within the inspirational surroundings of the V&A museum, we will create loose freestyle sketches. Introducing a series of exercises, students will be encouraged to develop their own style - tuning in their unique creative side.

We will work in pencil, markers, pen and ink, adding accents of colour with pastels or coloured pencils.

Some tuition will be given on proportion and tonal values but the emphasis is to free your creativity, improve your mood and bring life to your sketchbook.

This is for anyone who would like to express their creative side through sketching. You do not need to be able to draw to attend, or to have had any drawing experience. Equally the workshop is open to those who do have drawing experience but feel they need to loosen up. All backgrounds and skill levels are welcome.

Tuition is bespoke to the individual. Natalie Arnold, your drawing guide, is an experienced tutor and artist. Using her expertise, she aims to guide you through various drawing techniques in an enjoyable and easy to understand way.

Meeting Point

We will meet at 10.15 in Room 21, The Dorothy and Michael Hintze Galleries. This on the right if you arrive by the tunnel entrance. If you arrive by the Cromwell Road entrance then head towards the shop, walk straight through the shop and turn left. Sketchbook (A4 or similar recommended)

A selection of pencils (HB, 2B, 4B)

Eraser and pencil sharpener

Drawing pens - fine liners

4 x coloured pencils of your choice
