About the Speakers:
Arrye Rosser has worked at CVNP since 1993. She was the Supervisory Park Ranger at Cuyahoga Valley Environmental Education Center during its establishment. Currently, she serves as the Interpretive and Education Specialist. Her duties include managing exhibit, website, and publication projects as well as park social media and accessibility. Arrye began coordinating oral history and research initiatives in 2011 that deepen our understanding of park themes. One of these is the park's participation in Green Book Cleveland.
Dr. J. Mark Souther is Professor of History and the Director of the Center for Public History + Digital Humanities at Cleveland State University, the creators of the Cleveland Historical app. In 2021, the Center launched the digital history project Green Book Cleveland: Black Leisure, Recreation, and Entertainment in Northeast Ohio. He is also the author of three books, including Believing in Cleveland: Managing Decline in "The Best Location in the Nation."
Becky MacKay began volunteering at CVNP in 2009, when she started as a Trailblazer. Since 2019, she has measured and documented old or rare trees for the Monumental Tree Survey for Park Biologist Ryan Trimbath. Becky has researched and written papers on a Moses Cleaveland tree, American chestnuts, and the rare Carolina hemlock in the park. She is now performing research and writing about various topics, including Duncan Farm and the Cabin Club, for Arrye Rosser. Becky has a PhD in Metallurgical Engineering and retired after a 32-year career at NASA.
