Join the Explorers as we explore our community and a local grocery store with friends. Explorers will travel with two Orientation and Mobility (O&M) specialists to the grocery store and pick out food to prepare together making this experience a fun social and confidence building activity.
This activity designed is for youth, and parents are encouraged to drop their Explorer off to focus on the experience. Families who stay at the event can attend an in-person Parent Meeting while their Explorer is shopping.
Costs for O&M, money management, and food preparation instruction are all included. Shopping expenses are also covered.
During this event Explorers will:
• Gain hands on learning opportunities in the community
• Meet peers – and maybe make a friend
• Practice independence and self-advocacy
• Practice orientation and mobility skills in the community
• Build foundational skills in career awareness
