About this Event
Join us for an insider’s look at the lavish and saucy corsets Autumn Adamme creates for her Hayes Valley boutique Dark Garden. The tour begins in the colorful retail space with a brief history and introduction to modern corsetry. We then slip behind a curtain into the sewing studio where corsets are made to order for discriminating clients. This is a unique opportunity to peek into the creative process of corsetry in one of San Francisco’s finest bespoke studios.

Bio: Autumn became known as the Godmother of Modern Corsetry after launching Dark Garden in 1989, reviving corsets for a modern body and audience. Growing up on the Renaissance Faire circuit, Autumn made her first corset at 12. She left High School early to study clothing construction, fashion design and fashion history. These skills, combined with her fascination with the human body and a deep seated desire to help people led to corsetry. At 18, she turned the crafting of custom corsets into the groundbreaking business which established many of the techniques and standards observed by corsetmakers across the world today.
