We’ll curate different supplies and challenges each week, to help kids build creativity, perseverance, and STEAM skills through purposeful play. Snacks will be provided after the class, thanks to funding from Huron Valley AFL CIO.
June 8 Vibrobots Use small motors and a variety of supplies to design, build, and test your own bot that moves.
June 15 Roll-a-Picasso Art instructor Namrata Gupta Khemka will guide you through drawing and painting a unique Picasso-style face on canvas.
June 22 Nature Play on the Way Join staff from the Gaffield Children's Garden at UM for gravity play and construction play near the garden.
June 29 Cardboard Construction Use Chompsaws and MakeDos to build cardboard creations and a geodesic dome.
July 6 Painting Party Make beautiful art with a wide variety of materials–watercolors, salt, glue, gelli plates, salad spinners, and more.
July 13 Rube Goldberg Machines Make chain reactions to accomplish a task, using ramps, blocks, dominoes, pulleys, and other supplies.
July 20 Junk Journals Use stamps and odds and ends to design pages, then bind them into a unique journal.
July 27 Paper Cityscapes Construct tiny houses, skyscrapers, stores, trees, and other elements to add to a cityscape.
