Want to experience the world of pop-up books up close? Then sign up for the next EXPLORE AZ POP-UP BOOKS EXHIBIT FIELD TRIP to visit the Eugene D. Valentine collection at the ASU Hayden Library Archival Room in Tempe. Lunch will follow at 11:30 a.m. at the Engrained Cafe within the ASU Memorial Union next door.
Please RSVP to BARBARA RUSSELL at [email protected] by Monday, October 14th, and indicate if you will need a ride or can be a carpool driver to the ASU Tempe Campus. The event is limited to 25 people.
The Eugene D. Valentine Collection is a whimsical and cheery repository of approximately 800 pop-up books, but that doesn’t mean it should be taken lightly.
Each book is considered an intricate work of art, with its designers spending untold hours bringing their paper-engineered constructions to life.
The group will meet at 10:00 a.m. at the ASU Mill Avenue Garage on 10th Street and walk three blocks to the Hayden Library. On return, the group will walk four blocks back to the parking garage. Parking rate is $4.00 per hour, payable by credit card upon exit.
