We'd like to advise the Lake Macquarie boating community that Transport for NSW will be holding a marine flare collection pop-up for expired flares. This is part of their expired marine flare collection program. This is a great opportunity to safely dispose of expired marine flares.
Most flares have a use-by-date of three years and penalties apply if they are not replaced before the expiry date. It is the responsibility of marine flare owners to dispose of the expired flares in a safe and timely manner. More information on expired flares can be found at https://nsw.gov.au/flare-disposal.
There will also be a collection point at Speers Point Boat Ramp Thursday 21 November from 7.30-10am.
