These practical workshop sessions will be an opportunity to examine the practice of drawing itself through enquiry and experiment. Beginning with an examination of drawing materials and the nature of mark making and progressing through a series of simple “games” or exercises, this course will aim to develop both visual awareness and personal expression.
Using methods inspired by the revolutionary teaching of Kandinsky & Klee and Basic Design, a radical approach to teaching in British art schools in the 1950’s and 1960’s (initiated by artists such as Victor Pasmore & Richard Hamilton), this course will help you to reshape the way you think about drawing.
