Experimental Drawing

This workshop takes a radical approach to drawing the body through a variety of experimental techniques, including diagrams, stencil typography with the figure, and graphic stylizations that meld traditional figure and portraiture studies with scientific notions from Leonardo da Vinci to chaos theory. We will also experiment with sound/music and drawing, automatic writing from the surrealists to Kandinsky from the cubists to the tango and jazz to the abstract expressionists and Hip Hop to graffiti.

This course is ideal for students who wish to combine traditional drawing skills with contemporary ideas of the drawing medium, and is open to students at all levels.
Note: This workshop is held on campus at the School of Visual Arts.
