In November, the TSO will be presenting a series of events and concerts with one central theme the exploration and performance of Stravinsky’s The Rite of Spring, widely acknowledged as the greatest composition of the 20th century. If you don’t know this music well, this is your chance at our FREE event! Thursday, 13th November at 7.30pm in St John’s, Totnes, Nigel Groom, Jungian analyst, artist and violinist in the TSO will give a talk on The Rite of Spring from a Jungian perspective.
The orchestra will be there to illuminate the different sections and themes with live examples. Expect to discover the archetypes that lie at the heart of the music and the story. Guaranteed to be fascinating!
Then, at 8.30pm, after you have had a break and a drink, you are invited to watch and experience a live TSO rehearsal of sections of the piece in preparation for our November concerts (see below). Richard Gonski, the TSO’s conductor, will explain what we are rehearsing and why!
Last July we had an open rehearsal which was a huge success - St John’s was absolutely packed. The feedback was so overwhelmingly enthusiastic and positive we thought we would do it again. We absolutely loved the experience of sharing our musical journey with our community and hope you will join us. It’s free, but donations will be welcome if you would like to contribute in this way.
