About this Event
Experience a 500-Year Tea Tradition
Join us for a rare cultural event with Tango Tanimura, a 20th-generation chasen master from Takayama, Nara—the historic center of Japanese tea whisk craftsmanship.
For over 500 years, the art of making chasen (bamboo tea whisks used in Japanese tea ceremony) has been passed down within a single family. Today, only about 16 officially recognized chasen masters remain in Japan.
In this special live demonstration, you will witness the delicate and highly skilled process of transforming a single piece of bamboo into a beautifully crafted tea whisk. Tanimura-san will also share the history, philosophy, and cultural significance behind this enduring tradition.
No prior experience is necessary—this event is open to all levels.
Guests will enjoy matcha and have the opportunity to experience Japanese tea culture up close.
