About this Event
Join us for Exit12 Dance Company's Stories of War, a powerful dance-theater experience that explores the emotional landscape of military life—service, sacrifice, resilience, and return. Co-created with professional dancers, local veterans, service members, and community members, Stories of War fuses personal narrative with dynamic choreography to honor the human cost of conflict and the strength of those who endure it.
The performance will take place at the Proscenium Theatre on the Pima College West Campus in partnership with Pima College's Miltary & Veteran Services and Art State Arizon, with generous funding provided by the Twiford Foundation.
We are honored to be joined onstage by Dancesequences, a partnership of artists with diverse backgrounds and abilities dedicated to building community through the art and joy of movement expression.
Together, this performance celebrates dance as a powerful tool for storytelling, connection, and shared humanity.
About Exit12 Dance Company
Co-Founded in 2007 by New Mexico native, U.S. Marine Corps Iraq War veteran Román Baca and his professional ballerina wife Lisa Fitzgerald, Exit12 Dance Company is a pioneer in the genre of military veteran art. The contemporary dance company is committed to creating and performing works of high cultural significance that inspire conversations about world differences and the lasting effects of violence and conflict on communities, families, and individuals.
Through movement, Exit12 educates audiences about the reality of war, advocates diversity and mutual understanding through cultural exchange, and champions the humanity and dignity of all persons. The company supports and advances the notion that art heals and is devoted to serving those who have been touched by conflict by expressing their stories.
About Art State Arizona
Art State Arizona was born from a bold vision: to weave the arts into the very fabric of everyday life across our state. From festivals and healthcare programs to public art and creative economies, our story is one of audacious collaboration, where creativity powers community, innovation, and growth.
About Twiford Foundation
Our mission is to assist in the sustainability of humanities and cultural arts education, primarily within Arizona.
We aim to help fill the deficit in humanities funding and education by supporting organizations that provide cultural arts enrichment to all populations and communities. We believe that culture and arts education are critical to peaceful, just, inclusive and sustainable societies. The humanities can offer transformative avenues for reimagining ways of living harmoniously with the earth and preserving social cohesion, which is paramount during times of interrelated global challenges, social isolation and environmental crises.
Our aspiration is to spark passion through creativity in all stages of life.
