The Stifftones bring 14 years of friendship (7 married) and five years of full-time touring experience to every stage we step on. We have the unique ability to read the room and tailor our performance to the exact energy of the moment. We weave our shows together with a mix of storytelling originals and carefully curated covers, making us a perfect fit for both dedicated listening rooms and lively social atmospheres.
On September 21, we digitally released our debut album, Existentialism on Main St. Folie à Deux and as of October 20th we have physical CD's. Several of the tracks are in rotation on over 15 stations globally, with more being added regularly. Our album single, These Times, released February 29, 2024 was nominated for a Joshua for Song of the Year in Joshua Tree, California.
Existentialism on Main St. Folie à Deux is self-recorded and produced. We recorded it all over the USA—from a woodshed in New Hampshire, a cave in South Dakota, an attic in Illinois, a garage in Southern California, a study in Portland, OR (remotely), a home studio in Stockholm, Sweden (remotely), live at the Berkeley Cafe in Raleigh, NC, and even the hearse. The album also features the musical talents of our heroes, Victor Krummenacher (Camper Van Beethoven, The Third Mind, Monks of Doom, Cracker), Jonathan Segel (Camper Van Beethoven, Øresund Space Collective, Sparklehorse), Kyle Mayer (September Mourning), and Chuck Melchin (Bean Pickers Union, The Bluest Sky).
One love,
Rachel (&Shaun) Stief

"The Stifftones are more than a band; they are the architects of a mission. Led by husband-and-wife duo Shaun and Rachel Stief, they operate as modern-day traveling bards, fueled by a philosophy of belief in the American Dream and the defiant spirit of rock’s golden age. Their sound—a potent fusion of Midwest grit, Bakersfield country, Inland Empire-inspired punk, East-Coast cheese, and heartfelt Rock and Roll, wrapped in magic—is what they call the “Rock & Roll Devival.” Imagine if Fleetwood Mac and The Rolling Stones had a love child...."
