What you'll see
Linocut prints inspired by the carved gourds (jícaras) of Pinotepa de Don Luis, Oaxaca. Maestro Ildefonso López, a Mixtec printmaker, carved the blocks. Each young artist then inked and printed their own piece by hand, choosing their colors freely. Every print starts from the same block, and each one reflects the choices of the artist who made it.
Why it matters
The project honors a Mixtec artisan tradition and recognizes that every brain perceives, creates, and communicates in its own way. It also helps Latino families keep Oaxacan heritage alive far from home.
